We read Matthew 28:18-20 all the time....but there is a question you must ask yourself....do you really understand the meaning of what Jesus was saying to his disciplos (spanish for "disciples") when He charges them with the Great Commission of going into all the world and making disciples of all nations?....Well I can truly tell you that this team of 11 disciplos, how fitting, understand this as we have completed our work here in Canoas Puente Mizata EL Salvador....the week was filled with joy and tears and some mucho caliente!!!! weather....hearing the stories from the people in the village and seeing their simple life....we can do one of two things....go back home and land right back in the place where we left or we can see "el mundo" in a whole different perspective...we understand what the simplest thing called "agua viva" means to people who do not have it....one cannot forget it is the little things that can make a person happy....there are so many stories to share and tell and our hope is to tell the many personal stories of "going into all nations and making disciplios" and we can truly tell our family back in Los Angeles this is something JESUS WOULD DEFINITELY DO!!!!!
This is the reason why we have come to Puente Canoas!!!!! This week has been amazing....Joe Gitto with the help of Jamal has found the router and we are able to get this to you....but those who have been waiting for an update....this is exactly what type of gratitude one should have in a ...THIRD WORLD COUNTRY....and as Tori would say...."YEA JACK!!!!".....Chandra has found "scrambled eggs" in the middle of the road....Lexy is still from Van Nuys (LOL)....Sgt Sommerfeld...has not let us sleep!!!! Eduardo is still "long live the Queen"....nobody knows where Juan is....Nick has become even more nicer with his frisbee playing....Sarita (Sharar for you English speakers) can't seem to put the phone down LOL!!!!!.....Ryan can play futbol in English and Spanish (Mike and Kim I think you guys are possessed with animal genes cuz this guys is a BEAST!!!) We laid the concrete and put the plaque in and tomorrow is the dedication ceremony and we are going give them a little AMS play...sorry Paul and Kimba....I'm in control of this one....but there are a lot of stories and you can only sit us down and take us out to eat and pay for our meal and we will share them with you!!!!!! Til next time!!!!! Hasta Luego....oh....p.s....our spanish is off the charts!!!! Imagine Joe Gitto speaking spanish!!!!!!
MAN WHERE DO I BEGIN.......H20!!!!!! Let's see....we arrived in Canoas Mizata looking for water....Joe Gitto was asking for a router....Lexy is still from VAN NUYS!!!!....Tori was looking like WWE Wrestler and that you shouldn't jump off a 3 story building with an umbrella...Ryan's tummy was hurting..Chandra was too concerned with boogers.(but she was awesome)...Nick is the nicest dude in EL Salvador....Nelson "Baby Face" Pimentel was the Lead Driller....Liz and Norma lead the hygiene team and today was AWESOME....the pic to the left is what happens when you find water on the first day....it gets kinda muddy....and by the way where is Juan?????? (this dude will just take off barefooted in the village speaking "we should live on the land" in Espanol!!!! And Angel is a great driver!!!!!! We spent the whole day in the village of Canoas, with all the wonderful people they made arroz con pollo(chicken and rice for your english speakers), but the love of God was all up and down muddy path...we were the talk of the village and when I say these kids walk to school.....I mean they walk to school....check out my Facebook page with this link below under the EL Salvador Album page.....but all in all today was a great start to our week......til next time....the work is just getting started.....
Think about this.....when you go home and go to your sink....water comes out...here in Sonsanate El Salvador....that is not always the case...even in the city of San Salvador....we are truly humbled and grateful to be here and got to the Living Water House safely....this is AMAZING!!!!! The ride here was great, singing songs and laughing, but also putting into perspective another world where people don't realize their situation and actually they are just grateful to be alive!!!!! Tomorrow we are going into the village where we will be drilling the well...til next time!!!! Ha
Greetings from the our Brothers and Sisters in El Salvador....we made it safely here and the flight was great....with the exception that we are still trying to figure out how Joe Gitto and Tori ended up in first class on the flight!!!!!!! Josue and Veronica Ortega send their love and this is our picture in their mansion!!!!!! LOL!! We are about to eat pupusas at Leo and Sandra's house!!!!! And Lexy is from VAN NUYS!!!!! (tell you more about it when we get back....)
"It just comes in the moment" famous quote by Sharar Ali-Speakes.....we are at the gate Joe Gitto is taking pictures on his phone....Juan is hanging on...I bought Sharar a 7$ Soy Latte(airport fee)....Ryan just in from GLEE.....Lexy is telling stories from Trader Joe's and Sgt Sommerfeld is COMMANDO!!!!!!! WE ARE READY TO BOARD!!!! AND believe it or not Tori got through security with all his metal jewelry!!!!!!! Getting on the plane....til next time....Stay tuned!!!!
2 Days away from serving our Brothers and Sisters in El Salvador...and our team is excited!!!! Filled with all the emotions, but excited to be going and serving....Passports, bags being packed, gifts being bought, childcare being taken care of, and airplane online check in's.....WHEW!!!!! and we haven't even left Los Angeles yet....but I can tell you this the team is excited about going and are really looking forward to the opportunity of getting there and getting our hands dirty with clean water!! El Salvador HERE WE COME!!!!!! Please continue to follow us on this blog....and keep up with our El Salvador Adventure!!!! We would also like to thank Sarah (you know who you are) and Living Water for their diligent help with making this trip seamless and worthwhile.....
Being from the Philadelphia and moving to Los Angeles was kind of a big deal...and living here in Los Angeles, in a first world country has many advantages and one of those, of which is taken for granted from all people in the United States....is water...that's right H2O...many people and children die in other parts of this world because they do not have access to clean drinking water. This coming week I will have the pleasure of traveling to El Salvador with some other members from my church to help drill a clean drinking well for a village there...we just had a meeting of the "minds" and talk through our trip and gain an understanding of what to expect as we get there, what we will do, and the many lives that will be impacted by our Godly service....all of the members of the team are excited and overwhelmed with what needs to be done before our trip, but as with many things in the end God is in control and He will always take care of his people....We have been given a charge to continue the mission of our God and church and will do our best to bring His love to the wonderful people of El Salvador...you are welcome to join us in this journey by following this blog and hopefully check out some of the pictures from our trip...to God be the Glory...AMEN!!!!! Til later this week when we make it the airport....how exciting!!!!
